I'm doing my post-secondary studies at Laurentian University where I study Biomedicine. I hope to use this degree to aid with Medical School or further my education with a Masters, and ultimately a PhD. The specialization would be in Oncology, as I am passionate about contributing to the research and treatments of cancer. This terrifying disease has most likely touched every person, whether it be the person him/herself, a family member, friend, friend of a friend. It is so common, and can be triggered by so many factors.
I love martial arts, especially TaeKwon-Do, which I have been training in since the age of nine. Recently, I have tried some Karate and Judo which is humbling, as I am placed in the position of a novice again. It is also a great opportunity to expand my knowledge of different techniques.
I also used to be a fervent piano player. Since the age of four, I adored creating music on the piano. Unfortunately, as I went on to highschool, I played less and less. This is especially the case now, being in University, my priorities modify my schedule, meaning I don't make much time at all to play. It saddens me to see this talent fade. But it is something that has helped me gain a great appreciation for all music genres. I know of the time and effort to produce any kind of music. All music is good; it is our perception of what is good that varies.
I adore the arts. Visual arts or dramatic arts. I was actively involved in the two in highschool. At one point, while in elementary school, the idea had crossed the minds of my best friend at the time and myself to form a group when we were older; something to the likes of the Group of Seven. Again, as life takes all its turns, so do our aspirations.
Currently, I am a teaching assistant for an Organic Chemistry lab here at Laurentian. It is a position I enjoy every moment of. I also am a resident assistant (CA/RA/Don/Proctor/et cetera) in a new 3rd and 4th year student residence called West Residence. This position, where I supervise all 44 students on the floor, is one I am fond of. Everyone on my floor is wonderful, I could not have asked for better:)
There is so much more I could go on about, but I'll save anyone brave enough to read through this lengthy intro any more reading:P
