I am a Christian, WMU grad., Special Ed. teacher, and probably the most excited person about volunteering in the world!! I have been so lucky for the special people and opportunities God has put in my life. I am married to my soulmate David DeYoung and am soooooooooo excited about it!!! I can't wait to see what God has in store for both of us.
What I live by....
A vision of a redeemed world, what should it look like? Words like freedom, equality and honesty come to mind. A world where all people have health care, youth are empowered and diversity is embraced. A place where we can let go of the past and work for the future. Where people worldwide have simple, decent housing. Women will not be stoned for adultery; violence will be met not with violence but with imagination. We'll gather to protest and there will be nothing to protest.
When shadows fall and eyelids close, each child will drift to sleep with a full stomach. As they dream, they'll see a place where what they do matters; where all people get an equal chance. When day breaks they'll see no difference between dreams and reality. The goals seem large but they are within our grasp. What are we called to? A hopeful vision of what the world might look like and wilingness to do the work. Together.I got a job teaching ESL to refugees for the summer, and I am SO pumped about it! I guess if I'm not going to Africa to work in a refugee camp, this is definitely the next best thing!
