The Funk Ambassador

About Me

....
Biography:
Being fascinated with dance music his entire life, dj The Funk Ambassador (Joep Binkhorst) started really focusing on playing House Music from the year 2003. Since then he has been able to play his music in several clubs in The Netherlands. Due to his interest in African, Latin-American and jazz-music, the music The Funk Ambassador plays contains some real global influences. However these global influences nowadays are filled up by a more electronic character, it have been these transgressing aspects that make his sets always a funky and uplifting experience.
But, as dynamic and progressive the world of dance music is, also the music The Funk Ambassador plays cannot be defined in just a few terms. By not thinking narrow-minded about (house) music, with his creativity and by trying to adapt to his audience, everywhere he plays new ideas and developments in his music can be seen.
In fall 2005 The Funk Ambassador won the Cityhall/Redbull dj Contest in Leiden, playing for a crowd of more than 1500 people and is now playing in the Cityhall on a monthly basis. Again, in March 2006, at the Music Meeting/Club imm..! Dj contest in Doornroosje, Nijmegen, his set turned out to be the best, and brought him a gig at the Music Meeting festival in Nijmegen.
