California Highway 99

About Me

I am a 425-mile-long highway in California's Central Valley. Cities on my route include Bakersfield, Fresno, Merced, Modesto, Stockton, Elk Grove, Sacramento, Yuba City, Chico, and Red Bluff. I also pass through some major agricultural areas.
My California is not the California you see in movies and TV shows. There's more to this state than beaches.
I was once part of US Highway 99, which ran all the way from the Mexican border to the Canadian border, then continued to the north as British Columbia Highway 99. When my younger brother I-5 came along, he replaced large parts of my route, and what was left of me was split into three state highways: California 99, Oregon 99 (which has a split personality disorder), and Washington 99. They don't have Myspaces yet, and neither does my cousin in Canada.
I have two kids: US 199, going through the redwood forests in northwestern California and southwestern Oregon, and California Highway 299, going east-west across far northern California. I had a third kid, US 399, but he was decommissioned in 1964.
I've tried to get included as an Interstate, but they haven't let me in yet.

My Interests
