About Me

DJ and producer duo Rupert&Mennert started DJ'ing many years ago in a small cafe in hometown Den Helder called "De Bliksem". At some point both DJ's thought it was time to create their own music and produced a very danceable first track called "Modified" which was inspired by sample hero Matthew Herbert. Since that day several productions and remixes were created and a few years later their first full live band was a fact.In fall of 2004 their first band was born: Rupert&Mennert Electro Quintet. Spending too much time with talking about good music and having fun with the band members, RMEQ prooved not to be the most efficient/productive band in the world. Despite this weakness RMEQ was able to create some very beautiful songs. Sometimes with a jazzy sound, sometimes very electronic, but always a great combination of real instruments and electronics. Mariëlle (clarinet, saxophone), Louis (drums), Auke (bass, upright bass, saxophone) and Rupert&Mennert (doing all the other stuff) form the backbone of this band. Many very talented guest musicians will join the band during the production of the first release.Somewhere in 2005 Rupert&Mennert were asked to participate in a newly formed band which was later called Eclectico. About two years earlier Rupert&Mennert organised a party and wanted to add a live element to the show. They asked Arnoud, founder of the Eclectico band, to join them, together with two didgeridoo players called René and Jan to play live while R&M mixed their funky beats. Arnoud and beatboxer Jitse performed live on Dutch national television with a short harmonica beatbox song which would end up being the first song of Eclectico, called "Ademnoot". Bass player Raymond completed the band.Last year Mennert started his own radio show Check The Sound of Swound hosted by Mennert! Every Saturday 19.00 - 21.00 www.djbroadcast.fm
