About Me

Brad was born and raised in a small farm town just outside rural Mansfield, Ohio. After finishing early at Ohio State University and the Recording Workshop at the age of 20, Brad worked in the Columbus music scene as a recording engineer and producer for the indie label, Sisapa Records. It was here that he acquired the nickname B. Radical from former LAFace Records Chief Engineer, Jimmy Dutt. In pursuit of his lifelong dream to be an actor, he relocated to Orlando, Florida in 1990 and quickly landed gigs at Walt Disney World and Universal Studios, Florida, as a dancer, singer and actor.Brad’s first acting gig in a major feature film came in 1993 when he appeared in THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION. Inspired by the time spent working with actor, Morgan Freeman, and Director, Frank Darabont, Brad set his sights on Hollywood. But first, he would spend six months on a cruise ship singing, dancing & choreographing in Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines own stage productions. In 1994, during what was to only be a six day visit to Los Angeles, Brad was offered a three week gig with the visual effects team at VIFX on the film TIME COP. He turned the three-week offer into an informative four-year run in visual effects working on feature films such as VOLCANO, FACE/OFF, THE X-FILES and TITANIC. During his tenure at VIFX, Brad continued to pursue his acting career, studying with Jeff Goldblum at the famed Playhouse West and making appearances in, independent features, TV and Soap Operas. One of Brad’s best Hollywood breaks came in 1997 on the award winning short film, BREAKDOWN, directed by Jeff Byrd and starring Vanessa Williams (Soul Food). After “Breakdown” he became a staple in Jeff Byrd films with roles in Byrd films, TURNAROUND starring Regina King and Blair Underwood, and BOOK OF LOVE starring Richard T. Jones and Robin Givens now available on DVD.Brad also moved into writing and producing with Jeff and his producing partner Eric K. George (Byrd George Productions), collaborating on several projects including music videos, a short film series, and the award winning B.E.T. series, The New Teen Summit. Other feature film acting credits include Vondie-Curtis-Hall’s GRIDLOCK’D and Byrd’s BET original film RHAPSODY starring Wood Harris and LisaRaye for which Brad received recognition in the January 5th, 2000 edition of The Hollywood Reporter. His writing and directing career continues to flourish in various mediums. Under the moniker B. Radical, Brad has written music video treatments for RAW/Progressive Films’ roster of directors including Steve Carr, Cameron Casey and Mike Lipscombe. Brad’s directing debut came in 2002 on the 35mm short film “Speechless”, which he also wrote, produced and co-starred. “Speechless” also marked his first collaboration with Cinematographer, Jonathan Hale.Brad teamed up with Hale again on a 35mm spec commercial for Fujitsu plasma-screen televisions. The spot (aka; “Flatworld”) was conceived, directed and produced by Brad. Brad’s stint in the world of visual effects was recognizable when FLATWORLD hit the marketplace in the fall of 2003. In 2005, Brad reconstituted FLATWORLD for the launch of CURRENT TV delivering a hip and intelligent board for the savvy cutting-edge network. The spot was optioned for a 3-month stint on current.tv where it was viewed and voted on by a massive worldwide audience.Brad was the sole screenwriter with 2 nominated scripts in the Best Screenplay Competition at HYPEFEST, 2003.His short film THE PACKAGE has been burning up the festival circuit having screened at twelve film festivals including prestigious festivals such as, Florida, Maryland, Boston, Urbanworld/Vibe and Tribeca. The film from his Hypefest nominated script stars Richard T. Jones (Judging Amy), Marsha Thomason (Haunted Mansion) and James Lesure (Las Vegas) and stand-up comedian Darrel Heath. While putting the final touches on the feature version of THE PACKAGE Brad is also shopping his dark comedy script, “Even Odds” as well as developing a feature with independent producer Damon Lane (formerly of Capitol Films, UK).
