During American Idol Season 5, America fell in love with Katharine McPhee. Coming out of the show as first runner-up, Katharine signed a record deal with 19 Recordings Limited and Clive Davis' RCA. Her American Idol single, Somewhere Over The Rainbow/My Destiny, charted at #12 on Billboard’s Hot 100, marking the highest chart position in history for the classic Somewhere Over The Rainbow.
Katharine McPhee's self-titled debut album -- recorded with top-class producers Babyface, Nate Hills, and Kara DioGuardi -- went gold.
Kat's duett with Elliott Yamin hit Hot AC and Top 40 radio in late April 2008. Kat has also had a hit single ("Over It"), two hit music videos, appeared on Ugly Betty and Lonely Girl 15, co-stars in the motion picture, "House Bunny," has been the spokesmodel for Sexy Hair for two years running, recently signed on as spokesmodel for Neutrogena, and has been featured on countless magazine covers. Katharine McPhee also found time to get married (February 2007), has begun working on her second album, and is helping to build a school in Africa.

Movies
Watch Kat play sorority girl Harmony in the new Adam Sandler comedy The House Bunny this summer. When Shelly, a Playboy bunny, is tossed out of the mansion, she has nowhere to go until she falls in with the sorority girls from Zeta Alpha Zeta. The members of the sorority - who also have got to be the seven most socially clueless women on the planet - are about to lose their house. They need a dose of what only the eternally bubbly Shelley can provide... but they will each learn on their own to stop pretending to be what others want them to be and start being themselves.

On January 15, 2007, Over It went for radio adds as the first single off Katharine's debut album. It became an audience favorite and a Top 40 hit and qualified for RIAA gold certification, selling over 500.000 copies.
Katharine's very first music video, for Over It, had its world premiere on February 22 on MTV's TRL. Thanks to all of your votes, it was #1 on TRL's Countdown during its very first week. You can purchase your copy of Over It, both song and music video, on iTunes.
Love Story was the second single and hit airwaves May 29. It's one of Kat's favorite songs on her debut album and is the perfect summer offering, with a fresh sound and a little retro throwback.
