As a writer and a musician I have been fortunate to meet many of my heroes and influences. Jimmy Page is someone that I have to meet some day.what a genius he is... And I'd give my left arm to jam with Doyle Bramhall ii. He is the most expressive and dynamic guitarist I have ever heard. If you haven't heard him, treat yourself... Spending the day with the great Ian Paice was one of the highlights of my life! He's an absolute star, both onstage and off. We were sitting at The Keg eating lobster with french fries and drinking a pint, fingers dripping with butter and grease and I'm thinking: "this guy is just a regular dude", when he comes out with "so I was havin a piss with Hendrix at the Speakeasy, and four hours later, he's dead"! and you go "holy $$%#@** that's right, this is Ian Paice, drumming super-legend!!Meeting Ian Gillan was another rare treat; he's a hell of a nice guy, very genuine, well spoken, and VERY appreciative of his fans. I sat in his hotel room while he made us coffee during our interview thinking "this aint right- this is the voice of Deep Purple-he wrote Smoke on the water, Lazy, Highway Star, etc. and he's making Me a coffee"???? Can I keep the cup???
