Jay René Peters was born on the 5th september 1982. Around the age of 9, J.R. decided to do something with the instruments that were always lying around at his parents' house. He took drumming lessons and learned himself how to play the guitar, bass, piano and harmonica. He developped his vocal skills by singing backing vocals as a drummer of an oldies band. Writing songs always came natural to him and when he got an 8-track recording studio for his 14th birthday, writing and recording music soon became his number one interests. Being able to write in various music genres, J.R. experimented with different styles throughout his teens.
With his debut album "Hey, mister!" (sept. 2004) J.R. found his own sound which can be described as 'indie/countrypop' or 'authentic pop with light country and folk influences'. However, J.R. enjoys challenging his songwriting skills by writing for other artists as well.
