Finding good care for our own girls was a source of constant stress and frustration for me. When our oldest daughter was born, I struggled with the whole idea of placing her in care at all. After several weeks of agony, we did manage to find a good place for her.
Although our first provider was wonderful with the children, she only accepted children under the age of 2, so we began the search again. Although we did eventually find a wonderful care provider, she retired after our child had only been with her for about a year. Thus the search began yet again! We eventually thought we’d found a good provider and enrolled our daughter, only to discover after a couple of weeks that the care was not what we bargained for.
The challenge of finding a quality situation for two young children proved even more frustrating. Fortunately, my Mother and Grandmother came to the rescue and agreed to fill in until we could decide on a permanent situation. This search proved so difficult that I eventually decided to put my career on hold and start my own childcare business.
This is turning out to be the best “career decision†I’ve made. I absolutely love being with children! It is so rewarding to watch young children develop and learn while they engage in creative play. There’s nothing quite like the feeling you get when a child gives you a hug and says “I like you!.â€
