About Me

Myspace Layouts by Pimp-My-Profile.com

In the beginning was the word... Then there was the sentence... And Finally came the poem...which was written by a 31 year old single male called Nick Card who's profile you are currently reading. Hello there, I'd like to welcome all passegers aboard this 571 journey to Nick's myspace site, please fasten your seatbelt as it will be a bumpy ride.I have been a performance poet for the last 6 years bar the odd insubstantial dabble here and there. If you want a flavour of what I do please listen to my player (if you're not already doing that) and check out my blogs. I aim to mix humour with humanity so please let me know if I am a good archer and hit my target. Now folks I have a charity concept performance poetry CD called "The House" that will be released on the 30th Jan 2009. If you are reading this after the aformentioned date then there's good news, you can buy it imediately! It costs £5 with all the profits going to Amnesty International. Please get in touch if you want a copy of this or any of the 4 CD's I have done (please see pics). Also I have brought a book out, please see below.http://www.authorhouse.com/bookstore/ItemDetail.aspx?b ookid=47021Away from performance poetry I am a Danger Mouse loving eccentric who works in a call centre. If you want to find out more then you'll have to get in touch.Love & Peas...Performing in Henry Boons, Wakefield.Comments about The House:"Well to put it simply it was both unique and excellent. I don't think anyone has attempted something quite like this." - Neal Zetter (Poet)"I really enjoyed The House, a sweet blend of moods... Some great sounds effects and musical interludes throughout, a very well produced and engineered CD indeed" Jonny Magus (Poet)

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Nick Card
Influences: My main influence is all that I have heard and seen and my experiences of life but I also draw from the words and lyrics of poets, musicians, writers and comedians: John Hegley; Roger McGough, Phenzwaan, Max Ehrman, Kahil Gibran, Neale Donald Walsch; Paula Coelho, Ben Elton, Bill Hicks, Jasper Carrott, Dave Allen, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Radiohead to name just some. I don't like giving out exhaustive lists but I will like to now add Neil Zetter as well.
Sounds Like: Imagine John Hegley's sense of bringing banal ordanariness to life without such an emphasis on dogs and glasses.Imagine regional poetry with accents to signify the area.Imagine a lot of double entendre delivered to sound polite.Imagine the spirituality of American Beauty's flag blowing in the wind sequence in the form of verse.Imagine the philosophy of Bill Hicks minus all the anger, aggression and confrontational stance.Imagine Neale Donald Walsch's concepts turned into poems. You may say I am a dreamer but actually I'm not because this is what my performance poetry sounds like.
Type of Label: Major
