About Me

I've put 4 songs from Small Town Tales (my first solo album) on my page. They pretty much cover the overall sound of this collection of songs. I started writing them when i lived in Hackney (London), and finished them when i moved back to my home town Whitstable (Kent). We recorded on and off for the best part of a year. This was mainly because my producer (the exceedingly talented Howard Gott) earns his crust playing violin and guitar for the likes of Ray Lamontagne, Beth Orton, Nerrina Pallot (this list could be as long as the dead sea scrolls, but i'm typing with one finger!!). So we stole the days here and there, around Howard's touring/perfoming schedule. The songs all started on my old tape 4-track, i find this the best way for me to write. If you only have 4 tracks, you can't afford to waste any of them!. Apart from the drums/percussion provided gratefully by Paul (who i payed in Skunk!), Howard and i played everything, from untunable mandolins to retro synths and cheap japanese guitars!. We encountered all the problems you face when you adopt the D.I.Y recording ethic (Howard punched some nice holes in the studio walls!), but most of the problems were me keeping out of trouble and actually turning up!. These are on going issues which have so far proved beyond the reach of Allah,Buddah,Jesus....oh and L Ron Hubbard!!!
