The Original Sin

About Me

The Original Sin are the brainchild of the Sheffield born singer/songwriter,Michael Brown.Inspired by early Roxy, Bowie and Mott the Hoople with their big 'glamrock' style choruses and harmonies, the lyrics are inspired by social events and issues. Lyrical and musical influences are also prevalent in artists such as Ian Dury and The Clash.Michael has been involved in music for many years from musical theatre to playing in a variety of bands and appearing as a solo performer. In 2006, Michael had the opportunity to record his songs.Recorded during 2006 and 2007 in Sheffield's The Red Room the songs feature contributions from several top local musicians.Written and conceived by Michael Brown with studio engineering and production provided by Matt Howden the songs all feature on the album 'For My Guilt' which was released on the indie Weekend Rockstar label in January 2008.Since then Michael has appeared at a variety of venues in the UK playing his songs mainly in a solo/acoustic environment - although he still plans to put together a full touring band.As a footnote Michael appeared with Elbow at their Meltdown performance in June 2008, performing as part of the now renowned choir named 'Geoff'. The opportunity to appear with one of his favourite bands and spend time with Guy to discuss music and songwriting was 'inspirational'Thereby follows a simple philosophy Live Life, Have Fun, Make Music and love your children.
