Penny King

Penny King is a jazz vocalist and educator based in Perth, Western Australia. She graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 1996 with an associate diploma in Jazz. She has been performing with her quartet for the past ten years.Penny has made several appearances at Jazz Fremantle, and at the Perth Jazz Society with her own quartet and as part of the 'Ladies of Jazz' anual concerts. She has been a member of the Western Australian Youth Jazz Orchestra, and featured on their 1996 release 'Night and Day'. She has also been a member of the Conservatorium Jazz Choir.Penny has been a regular performer at many venues in and around Perth, and has featured at numerous festivals and concerts, including the Fremantle International Jazz Festival, the York Jazz Festival, the Rottnest Festival, the Geraldton Sea Spectacular and Jazz on the Rocks at the Quarry Amphitheatre. Penny recently supported Dame Kiri Te Kanewa, playing with the Mike Pigneguy Sextet.Penny is a member of the JazzWA committee, and has an original track featured on the 'Jazzaziz II' compilation CD.Penny is currently combining her love for Jazz with her love for her baby daughter!
