“Between the two of us, we have been a lot of places and met a lot of people. We
take all of our influences and put them into our music; that’s why we come with so
many different vibes.†said Johnnie. I sat down with these two gentlemen
to find out a little more about them.Myspace- How did the two of you meet?Vante Soul- I first met “Sult†in 7th grade. I told him to check out the Pete Rock and C L Smooth tape Mecca and the Soul Brother cause the beats were crazier than anything I’d ever heard before. After that, we would exchange tapes frequently.Myspace- When did you guys start producing?Sult- When Johnnie and I were in high school we would be known for being fans
of beats, especially hip hop beats. If we weren’t bangin’ out drums on our desks, then we
were handin’ each other head phones to check out the latest Premier track or underground song we heard on the radio Friday night. Johnnie was always a drummer for church and groups, but it wasn’t until after high school we realized we could make our own beats, since we loved them so much. We started off with “two turn tables and a microphone…â€,
and a Casio keyboard.Myspace- Who are some of your musical influences?Vante Soul- I love this question. We pretty much share the same. In no particular order:
DJ Premier, Q-Tip & Ali, Pete Rock, Jay Dee, RZA, Just Blaze, 9th Wonder,
