Formed in December of 2004 out of a growing frustration over events in government, the Iraq War, corporate corruption and a complicit media, Wackiavelli felt a need to write material in response to the incresingly pervasive atmosphere of deceit and hypocrisy in Washington. The title track of their four song EP, “No Justice, No Peace†is upbeat and alternative with a compelling call to rise up against the powers that be.
“Judgement Dayâ€, currently in rotation on Satellite Radio's XM76 Fine Tuning, blends reggae, funk, and rap with a poignant message that speaks to the issue of hiding behind the flag while undermining and ultimately destroying the Constitution. Written in January of '05, it has proven to be prophetic, as evidenced by the subsequent scandals which precipitated the downfall of the Republican Party the following year.
“Why Did You Lie†is a slow rocker; it’s been compared to Lenny Kravitz and has a strong anti-Iraq War message.
“Mislead the People, Mislead the Sheeple†is funky, sarcastic and even funny; it speaks of those, particularly in the media , who weren’t paying attention and were used as puppets by the Bush administration to mislead the country into war.
The leader of the band, Omar Mesa, is the original guitarist of the noted World/Latin/Funk group Mandrill and has appeared on Chuck D’s "On The Real"
radio show on Air America and XM Satellite Radio where Chuck called him "a hall of famer guitarist".Track 2 of Wackiavelli's "No Justice, No Peace", "Judgement Day", is currently in rotation on XM76 Fine Tuning.
