The genre-bending duo blends cultures, languages, and artistic styles, pairing masculine and feminine energies, fire and water.Molina is an explosive emcee with relentless flow. He has joined forces with Aju—a multilingual vocalist who harnesses a distinctive blend of poetic reflections and soulful melodies. The duo has teamed up with DJ Icewater to release their first joint project, the Shine Flow EP. DJ Icewater has been a staple in the Bay Area Hip-Hop scene for over a decade. He has released over 35 mixtapes, was named Mixtape DJ of the year in 2003, and has toured worldwide with Shing02, The Living Legends, and the Pharcyde.
More on Molina Soleil & Aju:Aju is a human bridge, gypsy traveler, poet, dancer, and vocalist who spent the first half of her life in Japan. Aju weaves her verbal repertoire of five languages into soulful verses that reflect her hybrid cultural upbringing and distinct artistic flare. As a poet and presenter, Aju is a candid divine feminine voice; her emerging body of work focuses on her experiences as an Asian-American woman, as well as her concerns for human rights and the global environment. Before joining Molina, Aju co-produced and/or performed in numerous theater/music fusion projects, including Mandala, Dance Gallery Project, Sans Rituals Project, Peaces of the Universe, and The Vagina Monologues (NYC).
Molina Soleil is a nationally acclaimed poet, Hip-Hop and performance artist from a blue-collar Mexicano/Chicano background. Molina’s savvy, streetwise lyrics reflect his sense of social responsibility. Molina is a first-generation college student who graduated from law school. He chose to forgo a career in law and follow his ambitions as an artist, educator, and activist. He has performed at hundreds of events nationwide. Molina’s first album, Up Before the Sunrise with Mannequin Rituals, was one of the most creative and experimental independent releases of 2008. In addition to his music, Molina has published several books of poetry and has written numerous plays, including Phantom Discourse, which he directed, acted in, and toured during the spring of 2007.
