Aikido of Manhattan

About Me

Our Mission Statement
Aikido of Manhattan was created for the purpose of teaching, spreading and perpetuating the fundamental philosophy, discipline and techniques of Aikido established by its founder, Master Morehei Ueshiba.
Juba Nour Sensei, Director and Chief Instructor of Aikido of Manhattan, studied the art as an Uchi-deshi of Master K. Chiba, 8th Dan, in 1983. After four years of apprenticeship with Master K. Chiba, Juba Sensei apprenticed in Tokyo, Japan under the guidance of late Master K. Ueshiba.
Juba Sensei currently holds the rank of Shihan and he has been teaching Aikido for more than 20 years. His first school was established in New Haven, Connecticut (Connecticut Aikikai), now run by Mike Sidebottom Sensei, 4th Dan. Juba Sensei has also taught in Europe and in various seminars. Juba Sensei established the Aikido of Manhattan in 1995.

Our Commitment to New Students

New students are welcome here. Our dojo has a large contingency of new students and several classes designed to teach the most basic of basics. We also do our best to make sure that new students train with experienced ones to both preserve the Aikido way, and to assure safety.

If you're interested in learning Aikido, we encourage you to check out the about Aikido page, perhaps review some of our online videos, and most importantly, that you come into the studio to chat with the instructor and watch a class. Directions are located on the contact us page.
