Multi-talented, singer, song writer, rapper, producer, Daniel Mallison, IV also known as D. Mal, was born on April 14, 1988 in New Haven, Connecticut. At age five, seeking a safer, more tranquil and quiet environment to rear their children, his parents decided to move the family to Washington, North Carolina.
Because Danny’s father was employed by the U.S. House of Representatives, and his mother was a public school Principal, he learned early in life the influence of politics and the importance of education. Instilled also was faith in God and devotion to family. His life style was such that he met many different people from different walks of life , consequently he learned to appreciate other races and cultures, understanding that we all share common problems, dreams and realities.
Educated in public schools, he thrived academically, showing proficiency in Math, Science and English. He was also a star athlete in three sports- football, baseball and basketball. School counselors suggested that he consider the field of medicine or healthcare after high school graduation, but Danny had different ideas for his future. By his senior year, in high school, he and his crew were successful underground local recording artists in eastern North Carolina. The crew consisted of talented local rappers, while Danny wrote lyrics, sang the hooks, and helped to produce a melodic hip hop sound over old school samples, which he credits his grandmother, Joyce for exposing him to as a child. It was time listening to music with her that he learned that music had healing powers, and none does it better than old school R&B.
His passion for music was noticed at a very young age. Even as a toddler, he was often enjoyed by family, as he mimicked the dance steps and lyrics of Michael Jackson. As a youngster, he performed at local parties, summer festivals, weddings, and earned first place in a talent contest in middle school for his vocal performance and overall performance. It is no surprise
