KAKO DRUM

About Me

French-born with a Norwigian mother, Nico – often call Kako by his friends - grew up in the south of France where he distilled the unique musical heritage of his multi-cultural background and jump into the art of music at a very young age. He started by playing woodwinds and brass instruments, and influenced by his Grandfather being a musical director but more a drummer meant his interest for rhythm was inevitable and saw him taking a turn... He learned African drumming first amongst some the finest player of the south of France. And passionately attracted by these new beats, he found the connection with the drum kit and discovered Rock.Former drummer of renowned Rock-Metal act V.13 (www.myspace.com/v13theband), Kako nurtured himself into a powerful and percussive trademark of the 90’s US Rock/Funk mixture. But dying to enhance his playing he decided to undertake a course. In 2001, he enrolled at the Drumtech in London. Under the watchful eyes of Paul Elliott, Tom Meadow and Jazz master Pete Cater he learned to find his sounds and discover new styles. All around London, the drummer cut his teeth joining and playing all along with a great range of covers bands and also originals artists such as Ketan Kamalia’s Music Clinic and Indie/Electro innovators Machines, passing by the soulful r’n’b covers Allen Band, to acts that defy categorization - Batusamba Collective – allowing him to perform from underground club to big stages like “The Shepherd Bus Empire”.At the same time, Kako has shown deep interests and musical instincts for a motivating gift of composing and producing music. Influence by his teacher Phelan Kane (Depeche Mode,Placebo…), he self-titled and created a 7 tracks opus - ”JazzVille”. The line-up is as potent as it sound: Miss Trouble MC & MC Insight’s magic words, Kate Hayes (vocals), Dave Troke & Mathieu Seybald (Bass) and Gille Breton (Guitar) and more. Kako makes music where kindliness, truthfulness, devotion and respect, are quality that supply his theme. “My style is mainly based on musicality and my vision on a sort of landscape-painting. Sounds are to me like a perfect harmonies between melody and rhythm…”He has gone on to further his performance skills as well as becoming an experienced tutor and drum circle facilitator working with diverse populations of Adults and children from many background and culture. His return to Norway (Oslo) allows him to further his wishes and connections to a greater public. He is now undertaking more studies in sound engineering and technology.Links: www.myspace.com/themusicclinic www.myspace.com/machineslondon www.myspace.com/batusambacollective www.myspace.com/theallenbandMyspace 2.0 Layouts - Myspace 2.0 Editor - Hot Comments
