The band today known as 'Starlight Nine' was formed in the spring of 2006 when drummer Joachim met guitarists Teemu and Sauli from the city of Tampere. Soon after that they hooked up with Ville who joined on bass. Ville and Joachim had played together in a project earlier which never really took off. After the painful struggle to find a fitting vocalist they finally found Valtteri, an ambitious hardcore vocalist from Tampere.

The band made its first recordings in autumn 2006 and published three-song demo/promo. In Febryary 2007 SL9 made its first live show and a month later Pirkka(clean vocals) joined the band. In Summer 2007 Joachim decided to leave the band because of musical and financial reasons. But new drummer was found quickly, Niku is now a part of six!
