Victor Matias / aquamarine music Berlin
Starting out in the late 70s with his first band (a new wave group), VM's "professional life" in music began in 1984, when he formed the neo-Psych/Garage band THE CHUD (see: www.myspace.com/silhouettesofsoundthechud) together with organist Rick Zontar (see: www.myspace.com/rickzontar) in Berlin (West).
The group released several singles, and 2 longplay albums. Already the debut single, 1985's "Don't call me Batman b/w Rumble At The Love-In" (TWANG Records), became an instant indie hit.
Legendary DJs John Peel (UK) and Rodney Bingenheimer (USA) both were fans, Bingenheimer even declared "Rumble At The Love-In" one of his favourite songs of 1985.
All of the records by The Chud were produced by VM, using the "nome de guerre" Vic Count. In 1986 he was asked to produce the debut album of the German psychedelic band "Yellow Sunshine Explosion", which was his first production for other artists.
When The Chud broke up in 1992, he focused on record production, music for films & commercials and remixes, forming his own production company and studio AQUAMARINE MUSIC in 1994.

Apart from productions for other people or films, VM also writes & produces his own music, which is released under different project names. Stylistically this stuff mirrors his personal taste: elements of funk, jazz, listening electronica, trip hop and folk are mixed to a unique special brew.
Victor Matias' collection of vintage studio-gear and instruments contributes to his very warm, "unprogrammed" sound. The recording medium might be digital, everything else is very analog!
Ocasionally he is also working as a DJ, spinning rare Exotica, Jazz and Freakbeat grooves.
