The significant owl hoots in the night.-- (Terry Pratchett, Guards! Guards!)

About Me

Ugh.. It's quite hard to squeeze my personality in five lines...
Well, basic facts first I guess ;-):
My "real" name is Beatrice, which (except for my parents) everybody abbreviates to 'Bea' which feels more like my natural name... In England it's a bit different because 'Beatrice' is pronounced differently and sounds not too bad...
Anyway, I was born in Hamburg, went to school in Lübeck and finally moved to Kiel to study there, so originally I am from Schleswig-Holstein, which is the most northern German county. So I'm used to living near the Baltic Sea not to far away from Scandinavia, which is fantastic, because I simply love Sweden!
I've been studying for some time now and really enjoyed the time, but now I'm about to do my exams because time flies and I'd really appreciate to start workig in a school before I'm 30, or at least that's a rough objective!
...and as I'm going to be a teacher for English and Biology in a German 'Gymnasium' (roughly like grammar school)I thought it might be a good ide to spend some time in the respective country - and here I am, hiya from Newcastle, Northeast England!
I've arrived in Newcastle on 26 September 2006 and will be staying till the end of June 2007. In a colaboration of PAD (Paedagogical exchange service in Germany) and the British Council I have applied to become a foreign language assistant in a school in the UK and as you might guess - have been offered to come to Newcastle.
I'm enjoying my experience so far,I'm still trying to get to know new people, which seems to be the hardest bit, because the people I get to know seem to be too busy getting their job done and caring for their youg children and so on.. But I won't give up hope to find some like-minded people to drink one or twelve beer with..
Right, so much for my situation, I think there's already quite a lot about me on my page, so I recommend you peep into my blog and have a glance at the rest of my page. As I'm looking forward to get to know some like-minded people feel free to drop me a line (or better two ;-)...'Hi!' is not reeally informative...

Chaotic Good
"Rebel"
Chaotic good characters act where their conscience directs them, with little regard for the expectations of others. They believe firmly in making their own way in life, and dislike others who try to intimidate or use their authority on them.
Chaotic good characters always follow their own moral compass, believing that goodness and righteousness have little use for laws and authority. Although they are always kind and benevolent, their views often do not agree with that of society.

Black Books - Elephants and Hens

Manny: Bernard, it's hot in the worm.

[Wearing a large worm-suit, Manny has been reading stories to children, but goes to leave]
Child: [Obnoxiously] You haven't finished, worm! What happened to the rabbit?!
Manny: [Fed-up] He... starved to death. The end.

Bernard: Let's just, you know, get some ideas bouncing around. Sort of go crazy, you know, no rules...
Manny: Yeah, yeah, sort of anything goes-
Bernard:[hysterically> No, not anything goes! I said no rules!

[Coming up with ideas for a mouse in a children's story]
Manny: Uh, he lives, he lives, um...
Bernard: This, this had better be good, Manny. This had better be perfect.
Manny: [Desperate] Ummm...bottlebank!
Bernard: [pauses, thinking]...Oho! Brilliant! Fabulous!
Manny: And he, uh, he...plays the trombone!
Bernard: Keep going, keep going!
Manny: And he only eats...erm...liquorice!
Bernard: Manny this is solid gold! Solid gold!
Manny: [more confident] His best friend is a...panda!
Bernard: [losing it completely] NO! NO! NO! Awful! Bilge! Child poison! You stay away from the story!

[The text of Bernard and Manny's 'classic' children's story]
Manny: There's the elephant.
He's happy with his balloon.
Oh no! It's gone! Where is it?
It's not behind the rhino. [Both shake heads]
Look in the alligator's mouth.
Manny and Bernard: [In unison] It's not there either!
Manny: [Crescendo] Ohhhhhhh..The monkey's got it up the tree!
He gives it back. They all drink lemonade. The end!

Fran: You didn't write anything, did you? Bernard: No, actually, we wrote a very good children's book. Manny: Yeah! And then we had to destroy it, because it was too good.

HURRAH!
