About Me

A name's just a name.

But people call me Dan.

I am an art college student, enrolled in the Ringling School of Art and Design.

I am a Computer Animation Major.

There's more to me of course. But the lists off to the left give maybe a bit more insight about me.

My Interests

[Artist] I love every form of art. I love to search for the art in everything. Give me a pencil and I will draw. Computer animation is absolutely mind-boggling and torturous... But I love every moment of it. Music is one of the most powerful things in this world. The martial arts are the greatest dance I've ever experienced.

[Nerd] Video Games.. I'm a Game Geek. I love a wide array of video games, but a good RPG is a winning ticket... But that's hard to find now-a-days... Where's the substance? Where's the story?! Hmmm... One day I shall make a game of my own.

[Person] A strong mind needs a strong body. A mouth is just an instrument. The greatest impact of life is had surrounded among friends. Respect is given when it is deserved. Words struggle to capture the true feelings felt in silence. Can you truly speak to me without saying a word?

I'd like to meet:

All I'm looking for is a connection. Like a book that you just can't put down.

Music:

I can't live without it.

I have an affinity for Korean and Japanese music. Nobuo Uematsu is amazing.

Classical music is so beautiful.

Ain't nothing wrong with Hip Hop.

Indie
Musical Taste: Andrew Bird, Metric, Sondre Lerche, Geri X, Sufjan Stevens, Slow Reader, Explosions In The Sky, Album Leaf, Alkaline Trio, Saves The Day, Weezer, The Shins, Ben Folds [ As well Five! ], Elliot Smith, Flaming Lips, Notwist, April March, The Unicorns, Gorillaz, Architecture in Helsinki, Now It's Overhead, TV on the Radio, Belle & Sebastian, The Impossibles, The Decemberists, Blonde Redhead, Postal Service, Desparecidos, Caribou, Xiu Xiu, Iron & Wine, Cue Estey (QST), Modest Mouse, Mum, Six Organs of Admittance, Yo La Tengo, The Mars Volta, Boy Least Likely To, Broken Social Scene, Frou Frou, Regina Spektor [ LOVE ]... there's a lot more but I just got tired of typing.

Music is love.

Movies:

The Incredibles, Eternal Sunshine on a Spotless Mind, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Lost in Translation, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Garden State, Run Lola Run, Scarface, Dark City, Amelie, Iron Giant... and a lot more that I cannot conjure up. Too many movies and not enough mind power to recall them all.

Television:

Don't watch much of TV anymore.. but.. lets see... Basically just Adult Swim. That's about the extent of my TV knowledge.

Heroes:

Brad Bird, the genius behind the Incredibles and the Iron Giant. A greatly known man in the world of Animation.

Rahzel, my beatbox hero... That man has some ridiculous beats.. Have no idea how to do some of the things he does.

Steve Terada, martial arts trickster.. this man is insane.. I don't understand how tricksters do what they do.

Bruce Lee, of course... one of the main reasons I got into martial arts.

Conor Oberst, singer/songwriter of Bright Eyes. A genius and a master of metaphor. He has such vivid imagery in his lyrics.

Tim Schafer, a man who I would love to work for. The mind behind some great Lucas Arts classic adventure games and the newest delicious game, Psychonauts. Perhaps one day I'll work for Double Fine.

My Blog

Staring at a mirror...

What a strange summer it has been! A time of self-evaluation. Not the best of times, but one must do the best with those times. A rollercoaster of self-doubt and elated sense of self. For quite some ti...

Okay... So I've resorted to using this myspace blog as some type of outlet. What's presented on my plate seems so overwhelming... I'm doing my best to adjust so it doesn't all just come crashing dow...

Babble

Wow. This year has been a tough one. One that I didn't expect at all. It was quite the surprise. I'm still in awe with these thoughts. I'm often dragged in circles when they linger in my mind... Which...

Art

What makes an artist? When I began my artistic career by enrolling into Ringling, I thought it was just that... Going to Ringling would make me an artist. Now three and a half years later, I'm realizi...

The Human Being

It's funny... I'm often caught up in thoughts about the human being. Now, just even thinking about that makes me urk at our species. Thought. Thought has led the human race to believe things that ...

What feels right...

I don't claim to be a wise man, so I can't say that I always make the best decisions, but I do know I make the right ones. Now, what constitutes "right" or "wrong"? That... I don't know. But, in my ...

What a ring can represent...

When I first got this lip ring of mine, the meaning behind it didn't really hit me. Once I had the piece of metal on my face for a couple of days, it began to dawn on me. The moment I was pierced, I...

Late night thoughts...

When I'm up late, such as I am now, I can't help but let my mind wander around despite what immense work I have baring down on me. I get so caught up on the thoughts that come to mind, yet I find it q...
