Queen of Neo-Hood Music Contemplating where she would fit amidst all the pretty girls that can sing, Patrice Austin aka Ms. Magic, realized that it is the testimony gained through struggle and experience that gives her relevance. Experiencing the extreme luxuries of life from being the daughter of a professional basketball player, to feeling the lows and burdens of everyday trials of being a off again- on again single mother. Instilled early with Christian values, as daddy also moonlighted as a Pastor, that mixed with her love to entertain, inevitably led her to the choir. Refining and spiritualizing her talents in Raleigh, North Carolina for the first 17 years of her life, this angels destiny was to spread her wings out west to learn more through life in order to touch more lives than she could have ever imagined. Las Vegas, Nevada accepted Ms. Magic with open arms, and also opened her mind and horizons to further educate her pallet. Growing through the woes of life, as most people do, via heartbreaks, loss, disappointments, and having to find self, Ms. Magic truly believes that God was training her. Now, its time to practice what she's been preparing for her entire life. Featuring on various local projects and appearing here and there in major music videos, fans of Ms. Magic have only had a tease of what's to come. Here comes the bride! A marriage between real life and pure soul in the art form we call music. She writes with the spirit of Maya Angelou in her pen and sings with honor for greats such as Billie Holiday and Sara Vaughn. Having been compared to the like of Erykah Badu yet more contemporary resemblances have sited such as Kelis. However, the breath of fresh air is and will be welcomed by many…..so without further a due…..Patrice Austin aka Ms. Magic. But a little more about me ... I was born in Raleigh,NC..lived there for most of my life.. I attended Word of God Christian Academy and played basketball on the Varsity sqaud since 8th grade.. an accomplishment I was very proud of my father played for the world famous Harlem Globetrotters until I was about 12 years old, which meant alot of traveling for me at a very young age. Ive been to almost every state in the US and traveled to Europe twice, I love flying and getting to see different cultures. When I was about 11 my father and mother decided to put me into modeling school because they saw how tall I was getting (by 8th grade I was already 5 foot 9) I attended John Casablancas Modeling School and learned how to walk a runway and take fierce photos, I also developed a LOVE for acting as well while I was in this school I booked my 1st gig at age 11 for Limited Too doing mannequin modeling and a small print campaign. I have been singing since age 4. I had my start in church where my first song in front of a big crowd was Deleon's "God put a rainbow in my window" every since then I have been desperately seeking that love for music I am a poet and songwriter so those 2 combine and are giving to give my album a real Neo-soul feel.
