Moody: Jan Moody, John Pavlovsky, Brett Bryant, Kurt Wagner, Richie Parks, Josh Ketchmark. Prodigal Suns: Chris Carmichael, Nick Nguyen, Kurt Wagner. Max Vague: Max Vague, Ross Smith, Steve Green, David Harvard. And of course me, who played in all of these bands. I've played with far too many bands and artists to mention but these are some of the closest to my heart.
Influences: I've been moved by music of all kinds throughout my life, but my roots started in country and folk. Gordon Lightfoot, Waylon Jennings, Earl Scruggs Revue, Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell, Willie Nelson, John Denver and Merle Haggard were my earliest musical memories. I later discovered The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Monkees and then KISS, Queen, Zeppelin, Jethro Tull and all the big 70's rock bands. The earlier part of my career saw me playing in hard rock and hair metal type groups. I still enjoy listening to some of that music but I don't think it comes thru in much of the music I write today. I like music that speaks to me on some level. Nick Drake, Rachael Yamagata and Damien Rice resonate with me just as much as Cheap Trick, The Raspberries and Nazareth do, albeit in different ways. Some of my friends, like Sean Patrick McGraw, Anthony Crawford and Chris Carmichael, continue to write and record music that is truly inspirational and exciting to me and I'm lucky to have been able to have played with them all at one time or another. The music I'm making with Bonepony and on my own is very satisfying for me these days and I intend to keep doing that as long as the ride will last.
Sounds Like: I don't know that there's an answer for that question. "Good music" hopefully is what people will think.
