I am also President of a new independent rock music label, Shelter From the Storm Records.My professional bio:Barry Fasman is one of Hollywood’s most enduring music producers, arrangers, composers, conductors and recording engineers. With eight platinum and gold albums and a 25-year history, Mr. Fasman’s expansive credits include projects with some of the most respected names in popular music.
Mr. Fasman is particularly attuned to the development of emerging artists and is well versed in a wide variety of musical styles, ranging from orchestral film scores, radio-ready pop, modern country, world music and beat-driven R&B. In an ever-shifting business landscape, Mr. Fasman has remained relevant and credible for two and a half decades, a favorite of directors, producers, musicians and artists alike.
As a producer, Mr. Fasman produced and composed the score for a documentary film produced by Tony Krantz (of the hit TV show 24) depicting the life work of world spiritual leader Sai Baba. In the pop genre, he produced Swedish recording star Mette Hartmann’s single “I Don’t Want to Sleep Alone Tonight.†Fasman recently completed the debut album for L.A. buzz band In Theory (www.myspace.com/intheory) and classic rock cult favorites Bluebeard (both distributed by ADA). He is producer or executive producer for most of the company’s artists. Some of his past clients include Stephen Stills, Kenny G, Stephen Bishop, Jodie Foster, Kurtis Blow, Don Johnson and Dan Brown, author of The Da Vinci Code and other bestselling books.
Mr. Fasman produced six albums of songs for the hit TV series “Fame,†selling over four million albums worldwide. His production credits include works by Johnny Mathis and arrangements on Top Ten hits “Don’t Cry Out Loud†by Melissa Manchester, “It’s My Turn†by Diana Ross and “Every Woman in the World†by Air Supply. As an arranger and conductor, Mr. Fasman has appeared behind the podium for recorded works by Billy Joel, Barry Manilow, the Bay City Rollers, Dionne Warwick, George Benson and Placido Domingo. He has conducted live for Michael Bolton, James Ingram, Linda Ronstadt, Jeffrey Osborne, Brian Wilson and Jose Feliciano, among many others.
As a composer with over a dozen features and made-for-TV movies to his credit, Mr. Fasman’s penned the theme to the long-running NBC series “Showtime at the Apollo,†has contributed songs to the soundtracks of such motion pictures as Dance with Me, I Know What You Did Last Summer, JFK, Nixon and Heaven and Earth.
Mr. Fasman has served on the Board of Directors of the The Recording Academy® (also known as the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences), the music industry organization behind the annual Grammy® awards and is a member of ASCAP, SAG and AFTRA.
