Born June in the late seventies in southwest London, Lee’V was surrounded by musical people from his mum and dad’s side of the family who were mainly into to reggae. Full of NRG and an active imagination there was noting that Lee’V thought he couldn’t do. With this attitude towards life even in danger, kids in his school started to call him Mad Lee’V. He soon realised he was different from the other kids.
Growing up Lee’v listened to a lot of old skool hip hop but number one love was and always will be reggae and ragga which is embedded into his DNA. He would also listen to a variety of music which has today helped him to define his own style.
By his early teens Lee’V was in a Sound System called Stamina One as a MC “chatting†lyric’s he wrote to live crowds. In his mid teens he started up a new Sound System playing in the UK and Paris/France which manifested into a name called Hot-Shots which is still going strong today.
At the age of 16 Lee’V had an opportunity to perform in Huddersfield at a reggae event with one of his bredrin’s promoted by a record label called Fashion. There he preformed one of the many songs that he wrote. By this time his mind was fully focused on Ragga and didn’t have much time for other types of music.
Around the age of 18 (1995) Lee’V was MC’ing on the Jungle seen with Stylis featuring on different pirate radio stations also touring around Europe with big names in the business. From this Lee’V started to get interested into how the music was made and linked up with Emperor DT who trained him on production on an Amiga 500 using a tracker program called Octomeg but always found time to write his ragga lyrics and play on the sound system.
Lee’V / G3 Hip Hop career started around January 1999 when Hyper now known as Cerebral Hyper asked Lee’V to help co-write some of his hip hop tracks. Lee’V recorded them in his small bedroom studio setup and started to feature in some of Hyper’s tracks with ragga verses spitting on other peoples instrumentals.
In January 2000 Hyper suggested to Lee’V that he should start rapping as he was good at writing hip hop material. With his mentality of “There Nothing That I Can’t Do†Lee’V wrote and recorded his first rap song and gave himself a rap name called The Lyricalist 3000.
On the 3rd April 2000 the Gemini 3000 was born on a track called “G3K Mindâ€, this was a remix of Hyper’s track called “On My Mindâ€. G3K started to collaborate with Hyper, Earth, Ramses and Dave Dee and formed a crew. It was at this time G3/Lee’V started producing Hip Hop tracks and he preformed at a variety of open mic events with the crew until about 2002.
In 2003 G3/Lee’V seriously slowed down on writing hip hop songs and went back on the dance music seen with Stylis and had a spot on a internet radio station. As always he found time to listen to and rave at bashment dances while in the slave trade working 9 to 5 and husslin.
G3/Lee’V along with Stylis hooked up with there old music manager and opened up a production studio in southwest London, producing hip hop/R&B but mainly house & garage. After a year things wasn’t going to plan so Lee’V and Stylis purchased a mad amount of studio equipment then headed back home and started producing Hip Hop with a mean 3000 feel.
In April 2004 Earth brought Green Suits to G3/Lee’V studio. Green Suits had some crazy beats with a 3000 feeling to it on his laptop which G3 recorded to. G3/Lee’V mainly put most of his time into producing tracks while writing the odd song here & there.
In May 2006 G3/Lee’V had a son called Zeekai who became his new heart beat. When Lee’V was not with his son he continued to produce tracks which had a 3x 3000 force feeling to it, he describes this style of music as “Underground but commercialâ€.
Later that year after speaking to Earth, G3/Lee’V decided to put his Production Company on hold and join up with Earth Hip Hop. Seeing things with new eyes from within his son, G3 decided to rain an onslaught of lyric’s and bring the 3000 era 993 years early.
