About Me

I'm a laid back control freak, atheist/buddhist,
June Cleaver with a razor brain.
I believe in feminism, same-sex marriage, evolution,
a woman's right to choose, personal and social responsibility,
separation of church and state,
the basic goodness of people and my husband.
I don't believe in racism, Santa Claus, a woman's place,
Murphy's Law, God, caging birds or doing it "later"
I wish I could believe in reincarnation, political promises
and that I had a chance of winning the lottery.
I love straight lines, polished wood, clean glass,
a good book, diet Coke, intelligent people, my pets
and the idea that when you do good,
it travels beyond you.
I could live without pantihose, Ann Coulter, snow,
people who tell me I have to accept a personal savior,
brussels sprouts, televangelists and mosquitos.
I need order, peace, sunshine
and at least one thing to laugh about every day.
RYAN NORTH- Young, brilliant, Canadian

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to meet people with diverse ideas, who enjoy the act of pondering.
Ideally people who don't believe God is the answer to all the world's problems or at least who don't try and convince me of it because while I fully support everybody's right to believe what they want, I also support my right to believe what I want. I have a real passion for positivity and while I'm always up for a good debate I hate to fight.
People who believe that to judge another based on race, sex, age, religion or sexual persuasion is to prove yourself a fool.
If you happen to be a woman who believes that supporting all women makes every woman stronger, glad to meet you. If you do it with a smile and a laugh...you may be the sister I always wanted :)

My Blog

Probably not my last political rant

More years ago than I like to think about, when I was in grade 10,  I remember there was a new kid who came to our school. He was short, pale, had curly hair, glasses and dressed extremely neatly...

If You Were Born Between 1928 and 1968 Call Now...

If you make the call they will offer you insurance. Insurance that for a few dollars a day will cover your "final expenses" so your family doesn't have to. Insurance that is astoundingly expensive for...

My Xmas Gift To You

As promised, here's the star of my religious spam collection. The text is as I received it, sentence breaks having little to do with the end of actual sentences and capitalization based more on whim t...

Do you believe yet?

Fox and Friends was up in arms about the atheist radio show, The Freethought Radio Program, starting on Air America. They portrayed it as an attack on religion. It isn't about their religion, it's abo...

A Great Time

We're in the midst of a new renaissance. Medical advances in the treatment of cancer, MS and a lot of other "hopeless" diseases come so quickly that we can't keep track of them. Our knowledge of the e...

Walking With The Dinos

I went to Walking With Dinosaurs Live yesterday and it was more awesome than I hoped. I went with my lovely daughter and we toured the fair to start. We saw a blues band, an urban percussion group, Pe...

Pockets

When I was a Catholic kid, I'd look at my Protestant friends with pity. I was far too polite to say so but I knew they wouldn't be getting to heaven. I'd seen their churches and they were bereft of st...

Perks

I was at the grocery store this week. They have a gas bar there and I noticed a truck filling up. The truck was a big one, like a furniture van, and on the side was the name of a local Pentacostal ch...
