On Shoulders of Giants evolved in late 2006 when Idan Epshtein and Avital Tamir, widely recognized artists from Israel's alternative music scene, joined forces to create an experimental acoustic pop group.
Their search for the perfect fusion of their background in the punk/metal world with a sweeter, but palatable raw edge led them to Katie Danielson, an aspiring young singer and multi-instrumentalist living in Jerusalem. The creative connection between the three was immediate, and they quickly began collaborating on songs that would reflect their unique and unexpected chemistry.
Within months, On Shoulders of Giants developed a distinctive sound and songwriting style - highly listenable, emotive and dramatic, yet often darkly colored in cryptic musicianship. With most of the songs for their record written, the outfit set out to record demo tracks for their new album. Recording sessions were held in the band members' home studios over an entire year; the goal being to allow time to explore the musical boundaries and possibilities for each song as it emerged.
Mixing duties were then given to Liron Schaffer of "Zaza Studios", Tel Aviv. Mastering was done in NYC by Michael Fossenkemper of Turtlesound Studios.
Currently, the band is in search for the right label that recognizes the potential impact of their unique appeal on the international market.
