HEADSTONE began back in early 2006 as GODHEAD. Formed by ex GRIDLOCK bass / vocalist Nige Mason. Along with long time K Town thrasher Aldo Della Rose formely of SKULLCRUSHER on drums, they began working with guitarist James Beech.James left to be replaced by ex MANNIX guitar shredder Mick Walsh. As a three piece, they then started working on a mix of original Stoner Rock and cover songs.
Godhead's first gig was a set of cover songs for the annual Sewer Rats biker rally. The set included such covers as: Cochise, 20th Century Boy and Monkey Wrench. Godhead continued to gig until a name changed was forced upon then by another band named Godhead.
Headstone was born and a number of original songs were introduced including Whipping Boy and the self titled Headstone. This line up continued to gig and write songs until March 2007 when Aldo returned to his thrash roots on guitar with LET EM BURN. He was then replaced temporarily by BRAND NEW ANALOGUES drummer Gaz Marshall. The band played one gig with this line up before disbanding. So ends Chapter One...
Chapter Two: Nige takes over the guitar duties and the bass is handled by the big bass sound of Josh Tildesley (JT) from Brand New Analogues and ex HONEY TOAD. A fourth member is added and long time Northern Metal gal Emma C takes Headstone into a different direction playing Hammond style keyboard riffs. Ex BLOODSTREAM drummer Steve Ward takes over drumming duties to create a new Stoner - metal groove sound.
After the exit of Emma C and Steve's retirement from the band, Headstone are currently writing new material with a new drummer and seeking a new keyboard player. Emma will be sadly missed from the Headstone line up and we wish her best wishes and thanks for the great ideas and riffs she added to the new sound.
Headstone welcome on drums - Spena from Eye Sore Angels. His great tempos and technical knowledge has added to the progression of Headstone's new direction and on Guitar the shredding progressive talents of Adi.
This step is taking Headstone into a more experimental prog territory but still sticking with their stoner doom roots. New material and songs with this line up coming soon...

Doom

The two new songs: "Delusions of Grandeur" and "Arise Blackstar" seemed to hit the spot after HEADSTONE's latest gig at the Mannville Arms. Great turn out and a truely rockin crowd. Doom seems to be o...
