Swing Paradise is a Hot Gypsy Swing Band
Gypsy jazz, has conquered the world...again,
because it has been there all the time. At least from before second world war when Django Rheinhard and Stephane Grapelli formed and played in the famous "Quintet du hot club du france" The played american swing music, they thought, but the actually created a style where american swing jazz got in fusion with various styles of already existing european
The style has changed a little through the years. New musicians, sinti as well as gajos ( non gypsies ), are influenced from various music styles and tempi such as heavy, jazz, pop and folk, but gypsy jazz is still unique, also because of the instrumentation. The rhythm guitar is still not only functioning as a chord instrument but also as a kind of a snare drum. The soli played by violin and guitar are still full of fire and the bas is still that solid acoustic double bass.
SWING PARADISE is a relatively new Danish gypsy jazz quartet playing traditional jazz manouche with a strong genuine feeling. They are already known and respected for there non intellectual attitude to the music and one gets associations to european bohemian urban night life as well as to gypsy campfires by listening to there sparkling style. The musicians have many years been playing and do still play in other Danish bands and they have, some of them together or some of them in other constellations, participated in various festivals in Denmark or abroad such as: Copenhagen jazz festival, Samoir sur Seine Django festival in France and Pori jazz in Finland.
