Blue Powda Monkeys

There are four Blue Powda Monkeys. The music they create is in the popular rock vein. They have been compared to bands like Matchbox 20, Collective Soul and the Goo Goo Dolls. Their unique sound is rooted in their melodic melodies, an acoustic sounding hard edge and rich vocal harmonies. Among its members are a high school band director, a business school graduate, a newly sworn in American citizen, and a direct descendent of our founding father and second president of the United States, John Adams.

Since its conception in 1999 The Blue Powda Monkeys have been through several changes that have all redefined their sound. Each time the direction seems to be clearer. To fully absorb their music, you must let their prolific songwriting and dynamic lyrics forge their way deep into your psyche. The songwriting plays a significant role in this band’s sound which includes a very tight rhythm section with lush electric guitar overtones. The British style phrasing and vocals bring the listener a fresh untrained edge. With each musician playing off of each other, the collective complements the whole. The Blue Powda Monkeys fill the void for those who have been lowered to musical unconsciousness from this industry’s repetitiveness and never changing ideas. Founding members Tony Cockram and Jeff Montgomery are still the driving force behind the band, to which Randy Allen and Dave Niemeyer have already injected their own style, giving the songs their harder rock edge.
