About Me

I was born in Richmond, Va., but moved out to Mechanicsville for the start of the 4th Grade at Washington-Henry Elementry School. Grew up singing under the instruction of Mr. Ray Collins in the choir of Northminster Baptist Church and never stopped. Some people say I just never shut up. The Beatles came along in the 4th grade as well, and I knew what I was going to be doing for the rest of my life after the 7th of February, 1964. Mary-Lew and Lewis gave me a guitar for my 12th birthday and things were never again the same for any of us. The 8th Grade came along in Lee-Davis High School and along with it trumpet, french horn and jazz under Mr. Dave Hoggard and Rock & Roll under the watchful eye of Frank Tucker. Studied music at VCU with vocal lessons from Mr. L. Wayne Beatty. Then the Army called me over to Berlin to single-handedly plant the seeds of the end of the cold war 15 years later. Gigging the whole time at a myriad of folk clubs (Go-In, Pampischeck, Banana), I found I got caught by the decadent European lifestyle and decided to remain here. Been all around the world, but I always end up back in Berlin and it’s home to me, my family and my various bands and students.
