I started playing drums when I was 10, in Pacifica, CA where I grew up. My family relocated to San Jose, and at 17 I joined my first productive band which evolved into a regular fast-paced gigging schedule. At that time I played Rock. In my early twenties, the 80's rock scene had exploded and hair bands were in. I was starting to get fed up with it, and the last straw was when I auditioned for a band and they hired me, then asked me to wear spandex pants and "poof up" my long hair. I'm a down-to-earth kind of rock and roll hippie, and I just couldn't do it. I quit before I ever started with them and decided to go to music school. After I finished my education at Musician's Institute in Hollywood, CA, I came back to the bay area and wanted to play Jazz. Sadly, there wasn't much of a jazz scene, and I ended up doing lots of "hired gun" acts around the bay area. One night another drummer buddy of mine couldn't make a gig and asked me to cover for him. It was a blues gig at JJ's - and up til then I really hadn't played much blues. The rest is history as they say. I fit right in, and it seemed everyone wanted my number. For the next few years I gigged hard 7 days a week, often times 9 shows a week. I hit the road with James Armstrong around 1995 until I started a family and settled down in the Morgan Hill area.I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)
