Teatro De Las Americas

Teatro de las Américas was born in an effort to discover, explore, embrace and share the rich traditions of Spanish speaking cultures as well as other cultures of the world through the presentation of plays written or translated into Spanish.Since 1992 Teatro de las Américas has developed a steady following. Performers and audience alike are drawn to this work that touches them in a very personal way. Every production is integrated by new and returning volunteers who participate as performers, stage hands, builders and technicians. Currently at Petit Playhouse in Oxnard, Teatro de las Américas stages two productions per year. Performances are presented with English Supertitles for those audience members that do not have the command of the Spanish Language.Audiences are comprised of Spanish speakers newly arrived, born in the US to Spanish speaking parents as well as English speakers who wish to learn or hone their skills in Spanish or simply wish participate in this adventure with us. Many return bringing with them friends and family thus helping Teatro’s audience and talent growth.In Spanish Nació el Teatro de las Américas Nació el Teatro de las Américas en 1992 con el propósito de descubrir, explorar, abarcar, y compartir las ricas tradiciones de los pueblos hispano-parlantes y otros del mundo vía la presentación de teatro escrito o traducido al español. Desde el 1992, el Teatro de las Américas ha crecido. La obra del teatro, que afecta de modo muy personal, ha atraído audiencia y voluntarios talentosos. Cada producción contiene novatos y veteranos que trabajan como actores, tramoyistas, carpinteros, y técnicos. Actualmente se producen dos obras por año en el Petit Playhouse de Oxnard, California. Las obras se presentan en español, con supertítulos en inglés.En las audiencias se encuentran hispano-parlantes recién llegados o nacidos en los EEUU de padres latinos, así como monolingües en inglés que desean aprender o mejorar el español, o simplemente compartir con nosotros la aventura de hacer teatro. Muchos regresan, trayendo parientes y amistades, así enriqueciendo la audiencia y el talento.
