Music has always played a big part of the Rellez life, even as early as 1996. Through many trials and tribulations, selling cassette tapes in the local halls of their high school and several group name changes, they finally formed a four man group ( D-Boi, Stevo, Debonaire and Young Dris ) in 1999. Unfortunate events would follow and cause D-Boi and Stevo to continue and build the foundation of the Rellez name by creating a future album and performing locally as a two man group. Their first release, " Societiez Ignorance ", was a home recorded project and was the birth of Vice/Versa Trax. Productionz, a very rare artist/producer duo. The entire eleven track album was recorded, mixed, mastered and produced themselves and later released in late 2001. It was also the beginning of somewhat of a street buzz while only having less than 200 copies circulating. They had many ups and downs with scheduled performances to open for artists such as Petey Pablo, Toya from Destiny's Child and Nelly and the St. Lunatics that later fell through due to scheduling conflicts. Their second release, " Soul Searchin' '', was a much bigger project, it was recorded in two different commercial studios and finally finished in late 2002. It proved to be even more successful bringing more live appearances, increased sales and of coarse production from Vice/Versa. The street buzz was growing in the city and the surrounding regions and had created a demand for the release of the third Rellez album. In addition to an estimated 1200 copies in circulation up to date, they have more than a half a dozen retailer's distributing the album in just the state of Missouri alone. Today through time and legal battles the Rellez are finally a four man group again. From grindin' there nine to five's and album sales they were able to build their own studio that now houses full production, mastering and mixing cababilities through the internationally famous ProTools/Digital Performer mix systems. The third album from the Rellez is one of the most anticipated albums the area in 2004. They are steady at work on the album and plan on putting on an huge promotional campaingn and a string of shows to follow. Coming off a collaboration with KC recording artist Tech N9ne produced by Vice/Versa in late December, this album will prove to be the cornerstone of the Rellez chase to a national spotlight.
