Biography of Remmy Palacio
BIOGRAPHY OF REMMY PALACIO SINGER / MUSICIAN / SONG WRITER / DANCER / INNOVATOR: Once described as one of the forerunners who created the “Miami Sound” which is considered a major international influence in the music industry and a major draw to Miami, this creative dynamo possesses cultural appeal, boundless energy and dogged determination to become a major force in the entertainment industry. REMMY is a multi-talented entertainer, mastering a variety of instruments and writing his own music...... Born in Puerto Rico, he fell in love with the Caribbean rhythm as early as he can remember and began playing the bongos at the age of four. This was only the beginning of his growing interest for playing instruments and his burning desire to master them. At the age of twelve he relocated to Miami...... In 1982, shortly after arriving in Miami at the age of thirteen and at the height of the break-dance era, REMMY joined the F.B.I. Crew, one of the first organized professional break-dance crews in South Florida. Not only were the F.B.I. Crew one of the top break dancers in the South, but they released their first single “Rockin It”, which was written by REMMY and Armus Luscan, featured in the motion picture soundtrack “Knights of the City” and soared to the top of Billboard’s Dance/Disco Charts...... Fascinated with the music world, in 1986, REMMY and two other musicians created the group “Nice N Wild”, whose album "Energy, Love & Unity" produced two 1 radio hits: “Diamond Girl” (written in both English and Spanish) and “Oh Baby”. The group performed at every major night club in New York City, Los Angeles, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, etc. They where a sensation throughout the Caribbean, Central and South America with their sold-out concert performances...... In 1987, REMMY starred in his first Hispanic Pepsi commercial to win a CLIO Award. The commercial depicted a Hispanic boy, drumming on a Pepsi can, who eventually achieves his childhood dream of becoming a successful musician -- REMMY portrays the musician boy...... Acting and dancing came as easy as singing to this wonderful performer. He was a lead actor in “Superboy” produced by MGM/Disney Production, and a principal in “Miami Vice”. He studied under choreographer Vince Patterson, who choreographed Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” and Madonna’s 1990 World Tour. REMMY also studied with Kenny Ortega known for his choreography in “Dirty Dancing” and many other music videos. REMMY appeared in two of Ortega’s music videos: “A Word in Spanish” by, Elton John, and Chayanne’s “Este Ritmo Se Baila Asi” 1 in Spanish in 1989...... REMMY began his career as a soloist in the English market with “Another Lover” an original song of his, and one of the most important hits of his career. Later on, he took a break in order to prepare himself for the Latin Market and to keep writing songs. In 1996, he got involved in a new project, the group “Iman”, consisting of two members: REMMY and Damy. With the help of Tropic Sun/Sony and the excellent producer Gustavo Marquez, they recorded a salsa CD which included two songs written by REMMY: “Vivire sin Ti” and “Eres la Estrella”. Iman went on tour to Central and South America, Puerto Rico and the United States. One more time he became a success: this time in the Latin world. The song and video of “Tarde o Temprano” became 1 hits in many countries. The year 1997 was definitely a great year for REMMY. He has dedicated a great deal of time to compose songs, many of them hits. REMMY has also composed and had his music appear on other artists' albums, such as the group “Menudo” and solo artist “Michealangelo”, who is very popular in Puerto Rico and sang at the Opening Ceremonies of the 2004 World Olympics...... In November of 2000, REMMY auditioned and was selected to be a lead in “Storm”, the first big Latin show in Las Vegas, Nevada. The creative director and choreographer was Jamie King, who directed Britney Spears and Madonna on their world tours. The show was produced by Mandalay Bay Hotel and Angelo Medina Enterprises. REMMY was one of the lead singers/dancers and represented “Earth” -- one of the four elements of nature. The opening of the show was April 18, 2001, and it immediately became a hit. Once again, REMMY displayed his diverse talents on stage, as the master performer that he is in a theatrical production that was unique in the entertainment world...... In 2003/2004, Gloria Estefan performed and recorded her “Unwrap ..
