About Me

We usually begin these with short, sweet introductions: the topic sentences to our life's essay. A name is common, a number we call an age usually tags along. These are facts. They;re solid. Safe and opaque. "My name is Megan. I'm 16." You can't do much with that. It's the uselessness of it that makes it so secure. Next, we'll branch out with the things we like. The things we don't like. Secretly, we're making use of some bravery. It's mostly unconscious and unnoticed, but we;re handing out information like free samples at a supermarket. "Taste us. See if you like us. Buy us or reject us." Word by word, sentence by sentence. We grow and warp and mold and form. Morals, pride, integrity, fears. Our sense of security is long gone. Naked and bare we stand on stage, exposing the bone under our thin, sallow flesh. Our friends, our family, our enemies, the people we are yet to meet - they are the audience. Vultures. Starving, greedy. They'll pick us apart. Every opinion, every preference, every priority. What makes us beautiful will make us withered. What makes us strong will make us emaciated. And the bravest of us will suffer the most criticism, the most pain because, foolishly, we supplied the most meat. With our confidence, we unloaded ourselves onto the world, exhibiting everything we have to offer. And yes this gives us more opportunity for mistakes; therefore, more will be made. But we do it for the high. Honesty brings disappointment and integrity. Boldness harbors rejection and admiration. Love breeds pain and understanding. It can;t be denied, we fall the fastest and the hardest. But it's only because we climbed the highest.{}
