Elif Caglar was born 1980,in Istanbul,Turkey.She studied "Jazz Composition" at Istanbul Bilgi University (1998-2002) with amazing jazz musicians as professors (E. Ali Perret,Can Kozlu,Aydin Esen,Nukhet Ruacan,Neset Ruacan,Randy Esen,Selen Gulun,Imer Demirer,Ricky Ford...)She participated in Lawrence 'Butch' Morris's unique "conduction" experience.She also focused on "Classical Turkish Music'" with Timur Selcuk for a year and performed at the "7th International Istanbul Jazz Festival" with the award-winning band "Bagdat Avenue" (2000,Roxy Music Days-Best Band&Best Stage Performance).
After the band's critically acclaimed debut "10-1" was released,she moved to New York to continue her studies in music.She got her Master's Degree in Jazz Performance from the Aaron Copland School of Music,Queens College.(2003-2005) and graduated with the Claire Bennett Moringiello '72 Award (given to "the female voice major who shows the greatest potential for an outstanding career in opera,operetta,musical theater,oratorio or comparable categories of music") In New York,she had the privilege of working with great jazz musicians like Antonio Hart,Michael P.Mossman,Sanni Orasmaa and the incredible Sheila Jordan.She came back to Istanbul (August,2006), where she's still performing and working on new projects.

Elif Caglar,1980 senesinde Istanbul'da dogdu.1998-2002 seneleri arasi,Istanbul Bilgi Universitesi Muzik Bolumu'nde;E.Ali Perret,Can Kozlu,Aydin Esen,Randy Esen,Nukhet Ruacan,Neset Ruacan,Imer Demirer,Selen Gulun...gibi Turkiye'nin onde gelen caz musizyenlerinin yanisira Lawrence "Butch" Morris ve Ricky Ford'un da ogrencisi olarak, "Caz Kompozisyonu" uzerine egitim aldi.Ayrica Klasik Turk Muzigi dalinda Timur Selcuk ile bir sene kompozisyon teknikleri calisti."7.Uluslararasi Istanbul Caz Festivali"nde,"Roxy Muzik Odulu"nu kazanmis olan grubu "Bagdat Avenue" ile birlikte sahne aldi.Kendi bestesinin de bulundugu "Bagdat Avenue,1-10" albumunun cikarilmasinin hemen ardindan,muzikal calismalarini surdurmek amaciyla New york'a gitti.Queens College bunyesindeki "the Aaron Copland School of Music"te,"Caz Performansi" dalinda master yapti.Bu surec icerisinde,New york'taki unlu caz muzisyenleri Michael P. Mossman,Antonio Hart ve ismi caz efsaneleri arasinda gecen vokalist Sheila Jordan ile calisma firsatini buldu.Ayni zamanda sehrin cesitli kluplerinde(55 Bar,Nublu,The C-Note,the Knitting Factory,Soul Cafe...)sahne aldi,session'lara katildi.Okulundan,
"opera,muzikal tiyatro,oratoryo ve dengi kategorilerdeki muzik dallarinda,kariyer acisindan en buyuk potansiyeli gostermis" performans ogrencisine verilen "Claire Bennett Moringiello '72" odulunu alarak mezun oldu.2006/Agustos'ta Istanbul'a dondu.Halen Istanbul'da cesitli muzik projelerine ve performanslarina devam etmektedir.
