About Me

singer/soulwriter/jazz vocalist/musician/composer/poeta human concoction between sophisticated sensual jazz diva, tomboyish awkward & quirky Pippi Longstocking and wittily wordy intellectual, she never fails to move, amuse, shock and charm her audiences, wherever she performs. Her understated style betrays her powerful and passionate talent and surprises at second sight & sound, not at first.Originally German, she mostly dreams, thinks and writes in English. With her unsuspecting outsiders approach to language she takes it apart and, with sharp precision, puts it back together into a tapestry of cultural observations, domestic dilemmas, ordinary miracles and environmental rap with unusual & intriguing twist. One of the tracks from her introspective first album ..Somebody.. secured a permanent place in the jazz genre by being featured on the jazz compilation album ..A Rey Jazz... Her second, more gregarious and upbeat Album, jazz wizards, Andy Nowak, Jeff Spencer, Matthew Jones and Steve Browning. She has recently graduated in music performance from Dartington College of Arts and spent three months at the Orff Institute in Salzburg, learning to devise and structure workshops to help children and adults access their own musicality in a playful but challenging way at their own level.Since 1994 she has been performing at many international venues and has filled art centres, hotel lounges, cafes, community halls, bars and pubs in New York, Stockholm, Salzburg, Munich, Dublin, Stuttgart, Bristol, Cheltenham and Paris. such as the Prom, Tantric Jazz and Mr. Wolff..s, Unterfahrt, Cafe Vivaldi, Cheltenham Literatur and Jazz Festival and quickly gains a strong following among audience and fellow musicians wherever she lays her hat. have local pub regulars put down their pints and rants to listen in awe.I have just finished recording my third album "come" with the backing of some awesome musicians, who have since then formed their instrumental Gloucestershire based trio "Future Positive". still looking to be signed...still looking for that gregorious and warm hearted manager to get me the gigs I am too lazy& introvert to get...so, hey , get in touch you producers, managers, labels, and of course anyone who loves jazz...and I've just spent a month in NYC, where I have had some profound , who revealed new styles and approaches and attitudes to me, that have enriched my life a LOT and inspire me no end! Among them is songwriter, guitarist, singer and soundengineer Flezadoza. We kind of recognised a mutual appreciation of soulful chords and songwriting in each others performances which eventually led us to collaborate on a piece I had just written. In only two one day sessions he managed to make this humble guitar track sound truly "awesome" as New Yorkers would say. Like all good & professional musicians and soundengineers, he has intuitive musicality and an eye and patience for detail, as well as the whole. She has been giving workshops in creative songwriting, body percussion and improvisation as well as musical games at all age levels and is giving private tuition in ukelele and vocals. She has also been a visiting artist at the access music akademy in Bristol and is the founder and songwriter of the teenie band "The Lucky Stripes".Katharina's vocal tuition for me was, by turns, thrilling, embarrassing, hysterical, painful, exhausting - but most of all, productive. By the end of just this one amazing session I could truly feel my horrid limited scrapy voice beginning to respond to what I wanted it to do. Repeated practice of Katharina's exercises has strengthened my voice and my confidence in it to the point where I have my own first solo gig coming up, and I have had limited but positive reviews on the internet such as "I loved it! Very unique voice... Bravo!". So with thanks I say "Bravo, Katharina!"Peter Griffin, musician, Graphic designer" ..a magical Album from juvenile beginning to older, wiser end.."BBC"Kitschfrei und natürlich. Solch eine klare ungekünstlete Stimme wäre dem Jazz öfter zu wünschen. Solch eine Sängerin kann München öfter gebrauchen"Richard Oehmann, Münchner Merkur"Thank you for a fun and inpsiring workshop"Jill Hands, poet & writer..
