Alvin Ong is a singer/songwriter who resides in Los Angeles, California. He started playing the guitar at the age of 14, growing and listening to the music of U2, Guns & Roses, Aerosmith, Def Leppard and White Lion among others.
During his college years, Alvin formed a band, Red Sea Parting in 1999. After getting started with some covers, he soon started writing original compositions directed in reaching out to less fortunate people in the Philippines. After two years in the road, Alvin moved to Los Angeles.
As Alvin thought he was done with music, the music was not done with him.
During one of his visits to a local church in Hermosa Beach, he was invited to lead worship for a youth group camping event. Not long after, Alvin said God released him, "and the songs just poured out." A desire to sing was starting to grow within him. "Finally, I said, God, if You could just give me the courage to sing, I'll honor You with it.'" And that he did. Shortly after, Alvin began leading worship in the youth group and had a great relationship with the kids.
In 2007, Alvin went back to the Philippines and teamed up with his friends recorded his compositions and released Enchanced CD EP "The Alvin Ong Project - Surrender". He was also invited to play a two local radio stations in Manila, The Edge Radio & Perfect Rhythm.
Alvin is now married with his long time bestfriend and drummer, Cheri.
The Alvin Ong Project or (AOP) was started by Alvin on January 2007, The Alvin Ong Project exists to promote positive and uplifting content through the arts, media, music, humor, and technology.
