Bright Young Things is a showcase of the best new music talent in Leeds. Funded by Leeds City Council's Arts and Regeneration Unit, BYT offers young musicians a step-up in the music industry. Anyone aged 25 or under and living in Leeds is eligible to apply, and all applications are judged by professionals who work in the music industry. For full application and eligibility details, please visit www.leeds.gov.uk/byt
The fifteen acts that have been chosen to take part in Bright Young Things 2008 (names announced November 2007) will now spend January in Touchwood Recording Studio, laying down some tracks. Touchwood has produced for the likes of Nightmares on Wax, Shlomo, Roots Manuva, Ricky Ranking, Budnubac, LSK, Eddie Roberts and The Cribbs. The tracks that are layed down during January will then be used to produce a Bright Young Things compilation CD, which goes out free with every copy of The Leeds Guide in February, as well as being sent to a variety of music professionals for promotional purposes.
In March, all the winners will get to perform in gigs set up by the scheme. The gigs are well publicised and well attended by the media and talent scouts.
Throughout this period, the BYT team maintain unrivalled press coverage and exposure with regular press releases.MySpace Layouts
