Starting on the violin when I was five years old. I discovered the bass when I was twelve. My dad, who was an awesome tenor player, had picked it up to keep a gig when the bass player got sick. I used to sit in his room and play for hours. I heard the Who and was transported. My dad introduced me to Max Roach/Clifford Brown and Stan Getz. My mom, an accomplished organist and singer, was having me play in church so I got a good dose of Bach and Purvis. I was looking for the energy and virtuosity of the Who coupled with the sophistication of Jazz greats and found it in Jaco, Pat Metheny, Eberhard Weber, and Chick Corea. Later I fell in love with Bill Evans/Scott Lafaro, Eddie Gomez, Paul Chambers,Coltrane, Keith Jarret, Don Thompson, Ed Bickert, Anthony Jackson, Gary Peacock, Charlie Haden, The list goes on and on. I have been on a life long quest to find my own voice and to create music with lasting value to better humanity.
