About Me

There is that hour or so after midnight when most everything finally succumbs to the call of Night, and waking breath is no more. a lull comes over everything around me, and it feels good to be in the dark, in the silence, walking alone and taking in the night air. That's how I am sometimes. I really like to think a lot. I'm fond of observing too. And internalizing what I observe.
You can say I'm shy, but when I'm with my friends I definitely open up a lot more. So that being said, I love meeting new people. =) I'm always up for anything new, adventurous, risky even.
I love traveling. If I could be doing anything right now, it would be traveling. Seeing new places, meeting new people, new cultures, new experiences. I loved London and Maui and hope to find a way to go back someday.
I've taken up a couple of new hobbies now that I've gotten rid of my urge to stay in school. I've been playing taiko drumming for almost a year now, and taking hip hop class for about the same time too. I love dancing to hip hop -- something about the beat just makes me want to move! =) Disclaimer though: I don't always agree with the values expressed in a lot of hip hop songs.
Taiko is Japanese drumming, if you didn't know. We play on drums as big as barrels, and sticks about two feet long. I saw Kodo, the premier taiko drumming group from Japan, once and I just loved it. When I found out that taiko classes were being offered in the same studio as my hip hop class, I had to try it out, and have been playing ever since. I will actually be performing sometime this year (both taiko and hip hop -- uhh, not at the same time, tho!)
Recently, I added yoga as another hobby. I just felt a call to try it out, and was happily surprised to find that after my first yoga class, I was sore in muscles I had never been sore before, but not sore enough to not want to come back. I guess taiko and dancing prepped my body somewhat. But there is something about how yoga classes, without approaching religion to closely, inhabits a space that very closely resembles the seeking of a path to achieve a higher goal, an evolved self.
Word of the Moment: SYNCHRONICITY.

people who've got a certain je ne sais quoi...interesting, make-me-turn-my-head people...someone who's fun to be around, who can keep a conversation going...i wanna meet people who are adventurous, up for new things, willing to take a risk, willing to LIVE LIFE. Sure, hanging out, having dinner, watching a movie, are all typically enjoyable activities. But how about going to the Cherry Blossom Festival? See a $10 show at Cafe du Nord? Go to the Hip Hop DanceFest? Take a taiko drumming class? Go to a powwow? Stretch out stress with yoga? Watch the SF Symphony? For a few of these activites, I did find a person (or two) to go with, but it would be great to find more people to enjoy the events with, or even just one person to share this verdict-less life.
