When "God the Creator of all Heaven and Earth" blesses you with a gift it's truly amazing. I have always been driven by the inspiration of music, for it's one of the most powerful pathways of communication on earth. For a very long time I chose to allow the distractions of worldy obligations to prevent my ability to nuture my gift of music, and I choose no longer to allow that to happen. I look forward to sharing with you my hearts desire, soon forever more.While growing up as the daughter of a musician, little did my father know he was watering a seed that had been planted within my spirit since birth. I watched my father rehearse over and over again to the tune of perfection, the same songs, and scales. It was amazing to watch and listen how his ideas developed into a musical story, and with that alone grew my passion stronger. My father set the tone for the production I create today and the style of singing I breath. Listening to my father's collection of Jazz Giants, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker and a host of other master's in the Jazz genre always took my spirit on a heavenly ride, and with that began to display my ability to play by ear. I started with the piano.....writing songs.....and.......D.J'ing.... yes scratchin. I was nasty with it. ; ) and I could mix just about anything together.... Just wanted to throw that in. Those who knew me could see me at Briley Park in Hempstead, NY at the Battles with Playboy crew and other's. I can't remember everyone but you get the picture. Dj'ing stayed with me for a little while, and shortly after I gravitated back to singing, writing and composing music. I graduated High School and met "Kyle Jason and Omari Shabazz"(P), who was part of a band named "Shabazz", and they introduced me to other layers of music. They uncovered I had a true talent, and from there I kept moving and ended up performing on Kyle's Generations Album, as a background singer. I was presented with the opportunity to get signed on a major "Epic", but it ended up falling through with the production company I was with. The best thing that came out of that was meeting "Commissioner Gordon Williams" a very cool, down to earth individual who I have a lot of respect for. So....I almost had a deal and then......no deal. Up and down, down and up, it was getting frustrating. I met "Kip Collins" he just graduated College, and on his way to success....We recorded many songs, and we worked extremely well together. I developed a lot with Kip. We recorded a song "Gamin", written and produced by Kip, and it ended up on the "Living Single Soundtrack" but, by the time the CD was released, Living Single had already completed their last show.....Time went by, and I was given the opportunity to lay reference vocal's for a new an upcoming TV series "Dark Angel", working with Gary "G" Wiz and Chuck D, (THANK YOU KYLE AGAIN and AGAIN), you have always looked out for me. They ended up keeping my reference vocals and using it for the opening theme. Cooooool.....a little KA Ching$$ coming my way. I'm getting somewhere. The latest work completed is my composer/production credit on Chante Moore and Kenny Lattimore's new CD Covered/Uncovered for a song entitled "Just a dream" I feel blessed that the opportunity was presented. The track was composed/produced by myself and Kip Collins who is, was and will always be a very dear LOVE of mine. Kip and I had a very special relationship. It was on another other level. We knew and understood each other extremely well, and always had respect and true Love for one another. Kip was killed on 8/31/06 in a terrible motorcycle accident, and I can't tell you how much his passing has devastated me. I never liked that damn motorcyle!! He is missed forever and never forgotten, for he has left an everlasting imprint in my heart that says I LOVE YOU always. Hence, the reason for my decision to fully engage my heart back into my love of music. Music, Love, Laughter and Peace is my spirit and what better way is there to share it. I can't think of one. I'm here to start my new journey of sharing my hearts desire. Look Out for me "I'm Coming" : )Deb
