From the mind that brought you Catalyst Records comes a new label and concept: Detournement Records , a DIY record label dedicated to putting out kick ass music from bands with something to say. Be sure to check out our first release: a CD from our great friends, IN THE FACE OF WAR . They should be back out on tour in the near future to support the release. As soon as they have dates ready we'll definitley post them here.
Yeah, we pretty much started the label so we could work with them.
We're working on a couple of other possible releases, more news when that becomes available.
We are planning on concentrating on Punk/ Hardcore, but we're pretty open to other ideas as well. Hopefully we'll be working with more local MidWest bands as well.
We're currently looking for more bands to add to the roster, if you have a suggestion get in touch.
Keep it real.

Detournement?
The term is taken from Situationist ideology . We live in a culture that co-opts anything meaningful and revolutionary and turns them into yet another product or commodity. We want to reverse the trend and take what has been commodified (as in punk/ hardcore, and much of music in general as well) and re-infuse the meaning that has been stripped away.
"One could view detournement as forming the opposite side of the coin to 'recuperation' (where radical ideas and images become safe and commodified), in that images produced by the spectacle get altered and subverted so that rather than supporting the status quo, their meaning becomes changed in order to put across a more radical or oppositionist message."
