About Me

ABOUT WIL...Percussionist with over 10 years experience playing for Artists like Frankie Negron, Brenda K. Starr, Ismael Miranda, Tito Puente Jr., Copacabana Orchestra, Michael Stuart, Paquito Guzman, Son by 4, and many more. Currently serving as Musical Director for Brenda K. Starr.Wil comes from a family of musicians and singers. His grandfather, Wilfredo Figueroa, Sr. wrote and recorded “Cucala”, which was later made famous by Ismael Rivera and Celia Cruz. His father, who was also a singer and played several instruments, exposed Wil to many styles of music; From, Salsa, Puerto Rican Folk Music, Merengue, Ballads, Top 40 Pop, Rock, Disco all the way to Big Band/Contemporary/Latin Jazz and Classical music.Today, in addition to being an active musician, Wil has started his own “Live Music” entertainment company, offering various bands and styles of music. For his first project, Wil has gathered some of todays most outstanding & young salsa musicians whom collectively, have played with many of the genre’s greatest artist. Together they are performing some of salsa’s all-time hits; bringing the music back to the pulsating hearts and dancing feet of the hard core “salseros”! In addition he’s put together a Latin Jazz Trio called Mano Destra. His band mates include composer, educator & session bassist Sam Ayala and renowned pianist Adan Perez. Free MySpace Layouts
