"And I knew if I had the chance that I could make those people dance."

About Me

It is the function of art to renew our perception. What we are familiar with we cease to see. The writer shakes up the familiar scene, and, as if by magic, we see a new meaning in it.

My Interests

I'm a passionate person, for better or worse, whatever I do, I do it with my whole heart, whether that's love, laugh, live, or be stubborn. I'm also usually the optimist in the room.I love art, painting, traveling to see the world, history, sailing, scuba diving, skiing, nature, hawaii, archaeology, animals, philanthropy, stormy weather, and comedy... I love to laugh until my cheeks hurt... and my friends and family are the most important part of my life.

I'd like to meet:

anyone who can teach me something new...arrogant pricks need not apply.

Music:

I like all types of music... and I don't single out bands, genres, or artists ... I like to be open and hear all kinds of new music.

Movies:

Movies that make you laugh, or cry, or go hmm....

Television:

Grey's Anatomy, House, Most Haunted, Big Love, Weeds, Roseanne, all those great 80's series like the Cosby Show (yea, my wicked-white Dad always thought he was Bill Cosby), Golden Girls, documentaries on History, Discovery, or National Geographic... and I'm a closet Days of Our Lives fan, (don't hold it against me, I grew up watching it with my mom, so it's kinda sentimental ok?)

Books:

She's Come Undone, White Noise, Slaughterhouse Five, Letters to a Young Artist, In the Land of the Temple Caves... etc.

Heroes:

Is a hero someone who saves you? or someone you wish you could be more like?Well, the list is both: Jesus, my Mom, Maya Angelou, Georgia O'Keeffe, Stacy (for being the craziest over-achiever I know), Suzie (for saying out-loud what everyone else just thinks)

My Blog

I’m officially a new yorker now

Or at least, now I have a license that says I am... and I'm registered to vote here.Shouldn't I get an official "welcome to being a new yorker" basket? With an I love NY bumper sticker, and a niagara ...

Learning

It is perhaps in this, in learning yet again, just how much I have yet to learn, that I am humbled and at once brought back to life, and to myself. There is a necessary reconciling that one does with ...

It never ceases to amaze me how in springtime the world, which in all appearences has lain dormant for months, suddenly begins to re-awaken. All the Earth seems to exhale, and begins to breathe again ...

Family

Family. What a strange word. It has so many meanings, and inspires so many emotions. Why, we ask ourselves, does "family" mean so much to us? Has natural selection evolved us to value genetic similari...

the road ahead

Look. It's like this. Most people, when they get to adulthood, feel really insecure. It seems like everybody around them knows so much more, like they have it all figured out. So people race around, t...
