Maraña Rusa was born in December 4, 2004 with Bernabé and Julio as a co-leaders and a bassist and a violinist. Between January 2005 and December 2005 the group was having problems with some members go out and some members go in. In November 2005, Carlos joined, and in February 2006, Ãlvaro(violin, piano) and Miguel (Guitar) joined too. With that quintet, Maraña Rusa became a group with a basis. We have a eclectic musical taste range from Blues (mainly Julio) to Heavy Metal (Specially Miguel). With that group, the group of "Bernabé" became a real group cos EVERYBODY in the group write music and Julio, Ãlvaro and Bernabé lyrics. Our influences are amongst all kind of Prog Rock 70..s( such as Canterbury: Matching Mole, Robert Wyatt, Hatfield and The North, Camel Symphonic Rock: Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, RIO: Henry Cow, Aksak Maboul), Jazz Rock and Fusion (Mahavishnu Orchestra, Weather Report, Miles Davis), Rock groups of 90..s like Radiohead or Porcupine Tree, Avant-Garde Rock like Fred Frith and Thinking Plague and Contemporary Classical: Olivier Messiaen, Toru Takemitsu, John Cage, Steve Reich, Charles Ives, Igor Stravinsky and Béla Bartok, etc..We are working in our first demo and we have 12 themes.
